Jussie Smollett – The Fake Attack That Became A Felony

Jussie Smollett was a rising star on Empire. In 2019, he claimed he was attacked by two men in MAGA hats who shouted racist and homophobic slurs. The world rallied behind him. Then the police revealed he’d staged the whole thing. He was convicted of a felony, lost his role on Empire, and had to pay over $130,000 in restitution. He spent years in court and even served time in jail. His career never recovered. His name will forever be linked to one of the most infamous hoaxes of the modern era.
