Working from home was supposed to be comfortable. No commuting, no dress codes, no awkward office small talk. But then Zoom happened, and suddenly millions of people were broadcasting their private chaos to the entire company. From accidental bathroom trips to cats walking across keyboards during board meetings, here are five of the most painfully embarrassing Zoom moments ever caught on camera.

A lawyer in New York was in the middle of a high-stakes virtual court hearing when he forgot his camera was on. He stood up, walked to the bathroom, and proceeded to do his business—fully visible to the judge, opposing counsel, and everyone else watching. The judge was not amused. The lawyer was promptly excused from the case.

A tech executive joined a company-wide Zoom call looking like a potato. Not metaphorically—actually, a potato. A blurry, root-vegetable filter had been applied, and no matter how frantically he clicked, he couldn’t turn it off. He delivered an entire presentation as a tuber. No one remembered a single word he said.

Professor Robert Kelly was live on BBC News, discussing South Korea’s political crisis, when his four-year-old daughter Marion danced into the room, followed by his baby son James rolling in on a walker. He tried to push her away while keeping a straight face, but she kept bouncing around behind him. Then his wife burst through the door, sliding across the floor to grab both kids and drag them out—looking like a ninja in the process. The 43-second clip racked up over 62 million views, and “BBC Dad” became an internet legend.

A mid-level manager at a major bank thought her camera was off during a heated argument with her partner about whose turn it was to pick up the kids. She used some very colourful language, called her partner several unflattering names, and even threw a stuffed animal across the room. Her entire team watched in stunned silence—because her camera was on the whole time. She resigned the next day.

A lawyer in Florida joined a federal court Zoom hearing for a deposition and forgot to turn off the upside-down filter he’d been using with his kids earlier. So there he was, explaining legal documents to a judge while hanging completely inverted—head at the bottom, chin pointing at the ceiling. The opposing counsel couldn’t stop laughing, and the judge asked, “Is there a reason you’re upside down?” The poor lawyer frantically clicked through his settings while the entire court watched him suffer upside down for a full three minutes. He later tweeted that he’s “still emotionally recovering” from the incident.

Working from home was supposed to be comfortable.
