The Rise and Fall of Eddie Murphy

""

For a massive chunk of the 1980s, Eddie Murphy wasn’t just a star; he was the box office guarantee. But as his movies transitioned from crowd-pleasers to critical duds, Murphy became increasingly elusive, and his private life revealed a chaotic side the public rarely saw. He famously stormed out of the 2007 Oscars when he didn’t win, and he later quit a hosting gig solely to support controversial director Brett Ratner. His personal life has been equally rocky, from a police stop involving a transgender sex worker to his refusal to apologize for misleading comments about AIDS until 1996. Nowadays, the father of nine seems content being a living legend rather than a current hitmaker.

""

Megan Fox was everywhere, until suddenly, she wasn’t. While she claimed she chose to leave the massive Transformers franchise, rumors persist that she was actually fired. Her history with director Michael Bay was complicated from the start; she famously had to wash his Ferrari just to audition for the role. Since leaving the series, she has unfortunately been stuck in a string of critically panned movies, though she did pop up in an Eminem and Rihanna music video.

She also briefly returned to reality TV with MTV’s Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club. Perhaps the most surprising pivot? She is now the official spokeswoman for Lawyer.com.

Sarah Michelle Gellar: From Banned by McDonald’s to Scream Queen

""

Before she was the iconic Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar was actually banned from McDonald’s after starring in a disparaging Burger King commercial. She quickly bounced back, winning a Daytime Emmy at 18 for All My Children before her career exploded with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She cemented her status as a 90s legend with hits like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2. These days, she has kept busy working consistently as a voice actor, trading the wooden stakes for the recording booth.

Alyson Hannigan’s Awkward Past

""

You know her from How I Met Your Mother, but did you know Alyson Hannigan once starred in a horror-style antacid commercial in 1994? Her connections run deep—she actually babysat her future co-star Bob Saget’s kids when she was just a teenager. While she found massive fame with American Pie, she admits she is now embarrassed by the raunchy role, especially now that she has children of her own.

""

The “I see dead people” kid didn’t just disappear; he got interesting. He also became a surprisingly skilled golfer.
