The Most Unsettling Historical Photos Taken Moments Before Disaster

Pavel Kashin Before the Deadly Backflip

The picture freezes a professional Russian freerunner, Pavel Kashin, in mid-air as he attempts a dangerous rooftop backflip in 2006. Kashin is captured at the peak of his jump, framed against the skyline, an image that perfectly embodies his athletic courage and his art form. Tragically, he failed to land the trick safely, falling from the high-rise building to his death. The photo stands as a haunting testament to the thin line between an impressive feat and a fatal miscalculation.
